Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is commonly stigmatized in many cultures as treating psychological disorders. This perspective puts the therapist as the authority that has the power to "cure" the illness and the client into a powerless or victimized position. Chien believes that the purpose of therapy is to assist clients to access the innate capacity of healing within their and to help their psyche to return to its balanced state through trauma healing and psyche transformation. This is done by exploring various aspects of the psyche hidden in the unconscious in order to discover and heal any unresolved issues, which could in turn facilitate a return to the authentic self where one feels most like oneself — coming back home to the core of our beings. Psychotherapy is the process of in-depth self-exploration that facilitates insights, growth and transformation.
The disturbances within the psyche or the challenges in our lives can be perceived as a calling from our inner self for change. The symptoms or difficulties we encounter are the way our unconscious asks us for a shift away from our old emotional or behavioral patterns. In therapy, one learns new strategies to strengthen self-esteem and overcome social anxiety or phobias. Moreover, prolonged emotional suppression and self-criticisms can be the cause of depression, anxiety, nervousness, irritability, mania, compulsions, and hopelessness. In therapy, one learns to understand, release and transform those negative and destructive emotions into protective and productive expressions of self-care and healing.
Psychotherapy, hence, is a self-discovering journey which can unveil the roots of our psyche disturbances in the unconscious for a thorough healing and transformation. Chien weaves together various psychotherapeutic methods of counseling, hypnotherapy, trauma healing, gestalt therapy, drama therapy, mindfulness and many tools to heal the psyche wounds, strengthen the inner self and allow insights to merge from within. In a safe and relaxed setting, Chien skillfully guides the clients to slow down and sink into the unconscious so the wisdom from our own body and psyche can emerge organically. The healing process allows a renewed sense of self to surface, where we can begin to experience an expanded version of ourselves and the world around us. As a result, we may find joy, balance, peacefulness, aliveness, creativity and abundance.
