Chien is a bilingual counseling psychologist registered in Taiwan, offers counseling and psychotherapy in English and Mandarin. She is originally from Taiwan, then studied and practiced psychotherapy in the U.S. for more than 15 years — this has given her a unique way of working; integrating both Eastern and Western philosophies of healing into her practice. She is globally minded, respects each individual’s cultural outlook and upbringing. She understands the challenges of cultural adjustment, language barriers, social isolation, stress, anxiety and disorientation that many expats experience.
Chien has practiced extensively with various psychotherapeutic and body-mind healing methods, such as Somatic Experiencing (SE), Gestalt therapy, Jungian psychotherapy, psychodynamics, attachment theory, psychodrama, person-centered psychotherapy, mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR), Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), clinical hypnotherapy, yoga psychology, expressive arts therapy, dance movements therapy and more. She specializes in Somatic Experiencing utilizing hypnotherapeutic skills to access and relieves traumatic memories stuck in the nervous system. It’s effective for stress, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and physical symptoms associated with psychological states.
Her therapeutic style is gentle yet precise, unconditional acceptance with attentive listening and understanding. She believes that the process of therapy is to assist clients to access their innate capacity of healing within their bodies and to help the psyche to return to its balanced state through trauma healing and psyche transformation. This is done by exploring various aspects of the psyche hidden in the unconscious to discover and heal any unresolved issues, which could in turn facilitate a return to the authentic self within where one feels most like oneself — coming back home to the core of our beings.
Chien offers psychotherapy, Somatic Experiencing sessions (trauma healing work), hypnotherapy, as well as expressive arts and body movement workshops. Online sessions are also available globally.
